All eyes in Spain though were on the Red Bull team, which were easily the fastest cars on the circuit and came in first with Mark Webber and third with Sebastian Vettel – it would have been a one-two if not for a poor pit stop and technical problems near the end. Fernando Alonso capitalised on Vettel’s problems to take second place and move up to second in the drivers’ championship.

Nico Rosberg, who was second going into the Barcelona race, had a poor qualifying and even worse race and ended up thirteenth, dropping him down to fifth in what is turning into a tight battle. The top seven in the championship are separated by just twenty-one points and a win this season is worth twenty-five points.

Spain was the turn of Rosberg’s Mercedes team mate Michael Schumacher to shine and he held off a challenge from Button to hold onto fourth place.

There were also congratulations in Spain to the Virgin team that managed to get both its drivers home for the first time.

Monaco Grand Prix

The tight street circuit in Monte Carlo is the most famous in the Formula One calendar, and the fun is likely to start in final qualifying on Saturday. There have been problems with overcrowding in qualifying before on this circuit but with twenty-four cars this year it could end in chaos and tears. With overtaking notoriously difficult, qualifying is extremely important and that should favour the extra speed the Red Bull team seems to have found.

The course is one that favours the brave but not the reckless as only a small deviation from the racing line can send the car into a metal barrier or kerb.

The 2009 Formula 1 season will end on November 1st with the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the impressive new Yas Marina circuit. With both the driver’s and constructor’s titles decided the race looks set to provide an entertaining end to an incredible season, with several drivers in contention for victory. You can watch the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix live online at www.watchf1.net.

Jenson Button secured his first Formula 1 World Championship at Interlagos, while his Brawn GP team won the constructor’s title. Follow live Formula 1 streaming from Abu Dhabi at www.watchf1.net to see if the Englishman can round off his year with a victory.

Abu Dhabi Grand PrixThe 2009 Abu Dhabi GP takes place over 55 laps of the 5.554 km (3.451 miles) Yas Marina circuit, giving a total Grand Prix distance of 305.470 km (189.819 miles). The Formula 1 drivers will have 21 new corners to master and you can follow all the action at www.watchf1.net.

The Yas Marina circuit features two very high speed sections, followed by tight hairpins. These corners, turns 8 and 12 – are likely to provide great overtaking opportunities. The pit lane is also unique, as it features a tunnel section. This has raised concerns over what will happen in the event of a car stopping in the pit lane, as it would be difficult to retrieve. Watch all the action from the exciting new track by following F1 live online at www.watchf1.net.

Red Bull will approach the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in a confident frame of mind, after Mark Webber dominated proceedings in the recent Brazilian Grand Prix to score his second F1 victory. Robert Kubica was surprisingly quick in his BMW Sauber and you can follow the Pole’s final race for the team at www.watchf1.net. Kubica will be a Renault driver next year, while the future of the BMW Sauber team remains uncertain.

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel both produced storming drives through the field at Interlagos to finish third and fourth respectively. Perhaps the most impressive performance of the day came from Toyota’s Japanese rookie Kamui Kobayashi. He led Button for many laps and looked like scoring points on his debut, before finally slipping to ninth. Kobayashi was standing in for an injured Timo Glock. Watch the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix live online at www.watchf1.net to see who will be in the car at Yas Marina.

Other drivers to watch out for in Abu Dhabi include Jarno Trulli and Adrian Sutil. After qualifying well they managed to collide on the first lap in Brazil, with each blaming the other. Find out if either can go the distance at Yas Marina by taking out a subscription at www.watchf1.net. Added benefits include live online streaming of other major racing series, including MotoGP and NASCAR.

The inaugural Abu Dhabi GP gets underway at 5pm local time (1pm GMT). This means that darkness will descend during the Grand Prix, making for a spectacular finish. Follow all the action from what promises to be a great race at www.watchf1.net.

Webber’s team-mate Sebastian Vettel finished second at the Nurburgring, closing the gap on F1 World Championship leaders Brawn GP and Jenson Button. At www.watchf1.net you can follow Barrichello at the Hungaroring and see if he can turn his season around.

Heikki Kovalainen drove solidly to finish in eighth position. Brawn GP’s Jenson Button heads to Spain with a healthy points lead in the chase for the F1 World Championship. He has won three of the opening four races. Subscribe to www.watchf1.net and follow the Spanish GP online to see if Button can add to his tally of victories.

Button won last time out in Bahrain, but Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was again a threat. The young German won the Chinese GP and finished second in Bahrain. Jarno Trulli was third for Toyota, as the Japanese firm continues to chase its first victory in F1. Watch the Spanish GP live online here to see if Toyota can finally succeed.

Lewis Hamilton was fourth in Bahrain, but his McLaren team will have to face an FIA hearing before the Spanish GP to answer accusations of lying to stewards at the Australian GP. Ferrari finally scored points in Bahrain, with Kimi Raikkonen taking sixth place. The Spanish GP has been a good race for Ferrari in the past. Watch F1 Spanish Grand Prix live online at www.watchf1.net to see if the famous Italian team can win the race for the ninth time.

The Circuit de Catalunya has been part of the F1 calendar since 1991. The 2009 Spanish GP will take place over 66 laps of the 4.655 km (2.892 miles) circuit, making a total race distance of 307.104 km (190.825 miles). Watch the Spanish GP live online at www.watchf1.net to see if anyone can get near 2008 winner Raikkonen’s lap record of 1 minute, 21.670 seconds.

In the past the Spanish GP has provided little in the way of overtaking, but the 2009 F1 regulations could change that. The new aerodynamic rules mean that cars can follow each other more closely. The best opportunities for passing at the Circuit de Catalunya are at the first corner, named Elf, and turn 10, the La Caixa hairpin.

Last year’s Spanish GP saw a Ferrari 1-2, with Raikkonen winning from his team-mate Massa. On current form it is unlikely that the team will be able to produce a repeat performance, but you can follow F1 live online here to see if either Raikkonen or Massa can create an upset. The battle for victory will most likely be between Brawn GP, Red Bull and Toyota.

The www.watchf1.net site will have all the action from the Spanish GP. Subscribe now to Watch Spanish Grand Prix Live Online, in addition to coverage of other major racing series including MotoGP and NASCAR.
