The best opportunities for passing at the Circuit de Catalunya are at the first corner, named Elf, and turn 10, the La Caixa hairpin.

Ex-racer-turned-entrepreneur Bob Jane wanted a race in Melbourne. He created a huge “thunderdome” and invented the AUSCAR series, bringing NASCAR action to Australia. Iin 1992 Jeff Kennett was elected the new premier of the State of Victoria. He immediately set about improving Melbourne’s profile. First on his list was the Australian Grand Prix. An agreement was reached with Formula One in 1993, but the contract with Adelaide did not expire until 1995. So in 1996 the race moved to Melbourne to beautiful Albert Park, the layout smooth and flowing, with no 90 degree street corners to break the speed. It runs clockwise around a lake, and the scenery is breathtaking, the circuit well liked by the drivers. It has 16 corners (left:6 and right:10) : Jones, Brabham, Lauda, Marina, Clark, Waite, Hill, Ascari, Stewart, Prost.

In terms of Grand Prix victories, Michael Schumacher and McLaren are the most successful driver and team respectively. After Michael Schumacher’s retirement, David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello and Giancarlo Fisichella will be the only drivers to have started every single Melbourne race.

The term Formula 1 provides in itself an aura of elite competition, speed and excellence. F1 Superboats are the ultimate in outboard circuit racing and provide all of the elements a motor sporting enthusiast would desire or expect from this premier form of competition.
The start of a Grand Prix is among the most exciting of all sporting moments. A desperate struggle for immediate advantage as a grid full of vastly powerful cars, and vastly skilled drivers, all try to arrive first at the first corner.
