Four drivers are still in with a chance of winning the Formula 1 racing championship ahead of the final grand prix in Abu Dhabi on Sunday 14 November 2010. But the constructors championship is done and dusted as a one-two from Red Bull in the Brazilian Grand Prix clinched the title.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso still leads the drivers championship despite only finishing third in Brazil. But he is only eight points ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber, who came second in Brazil, and fifteen points ahead of the winner in Brazil, Sebastian Vettel.
McLaren have not given up hope that their lead driver Lewis Hamilton can still steal the crown after his fourth in Brazil leaves him twenty-four points adrift. To overtake Alonso, he would need to win and Alonso not to finish in the top ten.
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina
The Yas Marina circuit does not provide a particularly interesting climax to the Formula 1 racing season. There will be an engineering challenge to make sure the brake cooling systems are at peak efficiency as the main long straight ends in a tight bend. There are also some tricky twists and turns as the lap comes to an end that will test the drivers’ abilities as these will be crucial for those wanting to push lap times to the limit. Lewis Hamilton was on pole last year but Sebastian Vettel won the race.
